Harris Mining is a family-owned and operated business. Clark Harris started it in 1980, prospecting the country around Mount Shasta, and the family has worked this ground ever since. Forty-plus years in, we know it the way you know a language you grew up speaking.
Our story
In 1980, Clark Harris needed a way to provide for his family while living in Mount Shasta. He found it in the same place prospectors had for more than a century — out on the claims, working the ground and learning where gold collects in Northern California.
What started as a way to get by grew into a lifelong trade. Over the decades the family has worked its own claims and explored the region relentlessly, building a feel for the country that you only get from being out in it season after season.
We took a break for a while, but the pull of the hills brought us back. Now we are happy to offer that hard-won expertise and deep knowledge of the area to a new generation of miners and buyers — the same honest, firsthand guidance that has always been our way of doing business.
